Aarikka's wooden products are characterized by their uniquity. The force of wood lies deep within their core, clothed with perfectly round softness. No two trees are alike, just as no two wooden Aarikka products are alike. The features and unique details of wood are naturally perfect. We want to accentuate their beauty. 

We are proud to say that Aarikka's wooden jewellery and home items are masterpieces of Finnish craftsmanship. Even today, apart from turning, each stage of handicraft involved in Aarikka's wooden products are completed in Finland. We want to cherish the tradition of Finnish craftsmanship that lies behind beautiful and functional products designed to enrich life. 

Not all wooden Aarikka products are easy to create. Each product has at least five components—some even up to thirty. The simplest products are wooden jewellery that are dyed and assembled by hand. The most complicated ones are home décor items—Fauna sculptures, candleholders, and Rams. Their components require a lot of time and many stages of handicraft. 

In order to create products with flawless appearance, the drill holes must be unnoticeable and in exactly the right places. In addition, the wood fibres must be in exactly the right position so that the light is reflected from their surface in the desired way. Aarikka's products are not made in the blink of an eye, because perfect results are achieved only with time. 

For us, it is important that the inherent features of wood remain visible in their naturally beautiful way. Because life is meant to be celebrated in all its colours, they should be visible even in jewellery and home items. Aarikka's products are dyed carefully with carefully chosen colours, and only flawless dyeing results are accepted. If the surface is uneven, it will be sanded down and redyed. 

You can recognize a real wooden bead by Aarikka by the light narrow stripe around it. It is made by design—it is a result of the dyeing technique developed by Kaija Aarikka and Erkki Ruokonen that is still used at Aarikka's factory in Raisio. The technique is a result of extensive development and creates a perfectly painted surface on each product. This both accentuates the natural features of wood and elevates the jewellery and home items. 

Aarikka's wooden products are made at the factory in Raisio, work centres, and people's homes. That's why production planning and coordination are also a part of the work at the factory: creators at home and work centres manufacture especially small and simple products, such as seasonal items, wooden jewellery, and small animal figurines. Large and complicated products are, in turn, made at the factory. 

Work centres and home creators do valuable work, which for many of them has become an important part of life. Many home creators particularly value the hands-on nature of the work and the flexibility it offers in different life situations, for example when there are young children at home or when regular commuting is challenging for other reasons. With decades of cooperation, we want to ensure that the many forms of handicraft and valuable work remain a part of our society even in the future.
