Aarikka and the Moomins cooperate: Bring joy to life with Moomin jewellery!

Moomin by Aarikka Little My earrings

Finnish producer of characterful wooden jewellery and home accessories Aarikka Oy will begin a partnership with Moomin Characters within the Nordic countries and selected Asian countries. Aarikka’s Moomin jewellery range will hit the market in spring 2018.

Aarikka’s roots are in Finnish forests and nature, from which the company draws ideas and raw materials for its products. Similarly, Aarikka’s Moomin jewellery range features the kind of illustration work by Tove Jansson which either shows the Moomin characters adventuring in Moominvalley or shows Moominvalley over the four seasons. The Aarikka jewellery product ranges are named on the basis of these themes. The Moomin collection will also include home accessories like key rings and towel clips.

According to Aarikka’s chief designer Pauliina Aarikka, the brand’s design is known for its crisp Scandinavian lines and round shapes. The brand promise, Drops of Joy, communicates the way in which Aarikka products bring people a sprinkling of happiness. We will now have more of these drops of joy in the Aarikka jewellery range, with Little My, Snorkmaiden, Moomintroll and the other Moomin characters joining it.

As with all Aarikka’s jewellery, products in the Moomin jewellery range are made from natural materials. Aarikka’s wooden beads are made from Nordic tree types such as birch and maple. Only high-quality jewellery parts are selected, and no traces of turning are visible in our wooden beads. All wooden parts are coloured at Aarikka’s factory in Vallila, Helsinki, and the jewellery items are assembled by hand by home-based employees in Finland.

Aarikka’s Moomin jewellery range and key rings will hit the market in spring 2018, when they will be exhibited to customers at the international trade fairs Ambiente and Maison&Objet. The company believes that the new ‘Moomin by Aarikka’ products will give it a tremendous boost, especially in the Asian markets.

Aarikka introduces Unisex jewellery to its autumn and winter range

Aarikka’s autumn and winter 2017–2018 jewellery range has been inspired by the tranquility of the forest. As autumn approaches winter, the evenings draw in and it’s time to settle. The quiet forest is dressed in nature’s most beautiful colour palette. The pure, light wood brings just the right amount of freshness to the range.

The most interesting new arrival this autumn is Aarikka’s Unisex range. The jewellery in the range is designed to suit everyone. The design is subdued and beautiful. The clean, simple lines and high-quality materials come together to create a unique whole. Once again, natural materials take centre stage while the leather brings an edge to the range.

The Peto necklace is one of the stars of the range. The combination of light wood and metal give the piece a fresh look. Due to its subdued colours, the necklace can be worn with almost any outfit. The Peto necklace is available in two different lengths. Designed by Sini Hjelt.

The Aikapuu watches add the finishing touches to the Unisex range. The dial is made from precious natural materials, such as ebony.  The range also includes watch straps in earthy tones. Designed by Marianne Siponmaa.

Responsible business, eco-friendliness and sustainability are of the utmost importance to Aarikka. We use only the best wood as the main material in our products, and all our products are assembled by hand in Finland. Aarikka has a number of subcontractors and employees who work from home, and the company offers assembly and packaging work to workshops that promote social inclusion and employment. All Aarikka products are finished with care.

Christmas at Aarikka 2016

The most beautiful decoration for the Christmas dining table is the wooden Helmi pearl garland. The rhythmical ribbon of wooden beads strung onto a linen string will be the undoubted gem of the festive table. Christmas delights can be served using the Pilkku tray, with its handy upright handle, or the Pouta chopping board. The cork trivet from the same series protects your table from hot serving dishes.

Christmas branches and the traditional Christmas tree can now be adorned with Kuusenkoru decorations as well as lovely cork and ceramic decorations. The much loved red and white elves whisper Christmas greetings and fill the home with Christmas music and cheer!

New Aarikka products this autumn

Lots of new products have been added to Aarikka’s range as autumn approaches. The stunning new Helmi, Pouta and Tovi mirrors reflect more light to brighten the darkening evenings. The playful Pouta notice board will help you to keep things in mind with style. The joy and style so characteristic of Aarikka come together in these new products in a unique way.

The round Pouta mirrors are made from wood and cork. The white wooden beads stand out beautifully against the cork, and the hanging wall mirrors are suitable for a range of spaces and occasions. The Pouta mirrors were designed by Marianne Siponmaa. The charming Helmi mirror is lined with white wooden beads. Designed by Pauliina Aarikka, the Helmi mirror is eye-catching and elegant. The Tovi mirror can be hung on the wall, where it can double as a jewellery holder, or placed on a table. The Tovi mirror was designed by Saija Malila.

The notice board designed by Marianne Siponmaa is great for helping you to stay on top of all your activities. The stylish notice board is an interior design element that can be adorned with cards and photographs, for example. The beautiful cork surface is punctuated by coloured wooden pins to keep easily misplaced tickets and keys safely in place.

Aarikka’s new lamps for autumn

Aarikka’s theme for its autumn 2016 home range is a harmonious and calming polar night. As the evenings draw in, it’s nice to spend down time at home curled up with a book. Aarikka’s new tones for autumn are graphite grey – which lends itself beautifully to interior design – and deep lingonberry red. They enhance the timeless freshness of our longstanding translucent white and pure white wood.

New for autumn, the Nuppu lamp is a timelessly stylish tabletop lamp suitable for both bedside tables and dressers. The Nuppu lamp was designed by Saija Malila.

The atmospheric Valopallo lamp is a fabulous ball lamp designed by Aamu Song and Johan Olin. It made its debut at Aarikka’s 60th anniversary exhibition and was brought into production due to popular demand. This autumn the Valopallo lamp is available in a new colour: graphite grey.

The popular Reitti ceiling lamps designed by Anu Penttinen are now available in two new colours: graphite grey and lingonberry red.

Responsible business, eco-friendliness and sustainability are of the utmost importance to Aarikka. Only the best wood is used as the main material in the products, and all products are assembled by hand in Finland. Aarikka has a number of subcontractors and employees who work from home, and in addition, the company offers assembly and packaging work to workshops promoting social inclusion and employment.
